October 2017 Meeting
OCFW Welcomes Staci Mauney
OKC Christian Fiction Writers will host author and freelance editor Staci Mauney on Saturday, October 21st, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. In this workshop, she will discuss how to take real-life events and use them as a springboard to create a story with a beginning, middle, and end. We want our stories to resonate with readers, and she will share a variety of techniques how to do this. Whether you are writing fiction or nonfiction, this workshop will help you discover techniques to bring your stories to life. It will include a couple of interactive exercises, so bring a pen and paper or a laptop and get ready to share!
Staci Mauney holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) and a Master of Education in Secondary Education from Cameron University. Although she lives in southwestern Oklahoma, she enjoys traveling around the United States and taking her sassy Yorkie, Lilly, for long walks in the park. Staci is active in LifeChurch and volunteers in her local community, as well as a freelance editing business, Prestige Prose, which can be found online at prestigeprose.com. She maintains a Christian devotional blog, Echoes of Joy, and has had short stories published in Chicken Soup for the Shopper’s Soul; Owl Hootings, Vol. II; and Oklahoma: The Fountain of the Heartland.
Her Christmas devotional, Echoes of Joy: 30 Days of Experiencing God’s Grace, will be released on Tuesday, October 24th, 2017.
OCFW meets the third Saturday of the month at 1:00 at Henderson Hills Baptist Church, located on the Corner of 15th & I-35 in Edmond. For more information, visit http://okcchristianfictionwriters.com or email JJ Johnson at OCFWchapter@gmail.com
