Review of CANYON WALLS

Julie Jarnagin
Canyon Walls

Review by Lacy Williams

Independent camp director Cassie Langley doesn’t need help from one of the hunky counselors at her camp—either in small things like handing her a toolbox or with the one big problem in her life: her camp is threatened with closure.

Will Overman didn’t arrive at the camp with an agenda (even if his father wished he would’ve), but when the pretty director catches his eye, his plans quickly change to wooing the prickly woman he can’t seem to ignore.

But when Cassie finds out that Will’s motives might not be 100% pure, her emotional walls go up. Can Will convince her that he’s out to win her heart?

This debut novel by Julie Jarnagin is a charming, delightful read. Julie’s characters are true-to-life, people with real struggles and heartaches, but who will capture your heart from the first page. The setting, a small Oklahoma town, was just right for the story. A unique cast of supporting characters added extra dimensions. I can’t wait to see what this new author has in store for us next!

Highly recommended.

Another review of LOVE'S RAID

Love's Raid
By Darlene Franklin

Reviewed by Regina Jennings

Clara Farley dreams of opening a school for girls in Maple Notch, Vermont, but her nest egg is threatened by a series of bank robberies. Constable Daniel Tuttle is anxious to prove himself after losing his arm during the war. He has plans to capture the band of thieves, but the net might ensnare Clara's troubled brother. To complicate matters, Clara's plans for her school involve buying Daniel's home place and doing an extensive remodel.

This story is set around a rarely discussed raid in Vermont by the Confederate army. Darlene has done her research and highlights this little known event. In Daniel she gives us a strong hero who is willing to give his lady the space to pursue her own ambitions. Clara is conscientious and faces an unspeakable dilemma with courage and conviction. It's no wonder Darlene remains a reader's favorite year after year.

Thanks, Regina, for that review! As a reminder to our blog readers, LOVE'S RAID is currently available through the Heartsong website, and will be available on Amazon.com in the future.
