September 2017 Meeting

OCFW Welcomes
Alanna Radle Rodriguez and T.J. Radle

OKC Christian Fiction Writers will host Alanna Radle Rodriguez and “T.J.” Radle on Saturday, September 16th, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. They will speak on Writing from Experience: What’s it Like . . . Public Disability Access. They will offer fun, hands-on learning situations that will give you new insight and can add to your repertoire of writing ideas and influence your stories.

Believing that anything which has to do with life has to do with writing, Alanna Radle Rodriguez and her mother, “T.J.” Radle, have an uncanny ability to connect real-life circumstances to storytelling in ways that writers don’t often consider. After years as caregivers and from personal experience, these Access Advocates have things to share and think about.

Alanna Radle Rodriguez’s first story, a collaboration, The Legacy Letters, is out as ebook and print copy.

OCFW meets the third Saturday of the month at 1:00 at Henderson Hills Baptist Church, located on the Corner of 15th & I-35 in Edmond. For more information, visit http://okcchristianfictionwriters.com or email JJ Johnson at OCFWchapter@gmail.com

August 2017 Meeting

OCFW Welcomes Erin Taylor Young

OKC Christian Fiction Writers will host Erin Taylor Young on Saturday, August 19th, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Mrs. Young will speak on Overcoming Damaging Self-talk for Writers. She will discuss God’s creative power is in words, especially in those we say to ourselves. Words can breathe truth into our hearts and spirit, or lies. Come learn how to harness negative self-talk and turn those words into a vehicle of encouragement and empowerment.

Erin Taylor Young is the co-managing editor for Serenade Books, a publishing company she helped to found. Her deepest passions are the Word of God and bringing His truth, whether in her own books or the books of other authors, to readers. She teaches workshops about writing and publishing, produces podcasts, and is the co-creator of Write from the Deep and Live from the Deep with Karen Ball. She’s also an award-winning humor writer. Her books, Surviving Henry: Adventures in Loving a Canine Catastrophe and Still Surviving Henry: The Untold Stories, have been repeatedly accused of making readers laugh until they cry. June 2017 Meeting

OCFW Welcomes Shel Harrington

OKC Christian Fiction Writers will host Shel Harrington on Saturday, June 17th, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Mrs. Harrington will speak on Growing Your Facebook Page—How to Get Them to LIKE You!. This class explores more than two dozen specific strategies to build your Facebook following and keep it growing; You'll also learn the most common mistakes made on author pages and how to avoid them.
Shel Harrington knew if she wanted to take her inspirational humor blog, Fat-Bottom-Fifties Get Fierce, to brand recognition, she needed to create a Facebook page that would help get the word out. Diving right into the Facebook world, she quickly learned that just because you make it, doesn’t mean they will LIKE it! So she set out on a quest to solve the “What will make them LIKE it?” riddle.

Solve it she did – growing her Facebook page to over 200,000 “likes” and “follows” with a weekly page reach consistently in the millions -- and it’s still growing! In her alternative world, Shel is a Family Law Attorney and adjunct law professor in Oklahoma City. In addition to her published law-related book and articles, she blogs with humor about improving relationships at www.shelharrington.com
